George Mason University hosts a bi-annual, multi-month innovation program called Challenge X, where companies are invited to present real-world problems for students to solve. This year, Walacor sponsored the challenge as an industry partner, giving students hands-on exposure to secure data architecture, blockchain-anchored integrity, and AI-driven analysis.
For three months, GMU students explored how Walacor’s platform could strengthen trust in high-value data across domains such as financial services, healthcare, and mission environments. The results were exceptional: two student teams distinguished themselves with polished, creative implementations that demonstrated both strong engineering and meaningful real-world impact.
Both teams were recognized as category winners and received prizes for their outstanding work.
IntegrityX — Bringing Trust and Intelligence to Mortgage Workflows
The IntegrityX team created a full-stack mortgage integrity solution that uses Walacor to seal and verify every supporting loan document, workflow artifact, and piece of compliance paperwork.
Their system incorporates:
- Walacor-backed cryptographic sealing of documents
- Multiple hashing options, including quantum-resistant, SHA-256, and zk-proof-based verification
- AI document comparison, to detect differences across versions
- AI summarization and extraction, enabling faster underwriting and compliance review
The result is a modernized financial integrity dashboard that blends verifiable cryptography with intelligent automation, an approach well aligned with how lenders and secondary market institutions are rethinking trust in digital loan assets.
The Four Loops — A Clinician-Focused EHR With Verifiable Data Architecture
The Four Loops team built a clinician dashboard for optimizing patient data flows and improving decision support. Their solution visualizes trends such as symptom progression, stress levels, and overall patient trajectory, while AI assists in extracting text, transcription, identifying anomalies and generating insights.
Designed with Walacor integration in mind, the interface prepares the groundwork for a next-generation EHR system where:
- Patient metrics can be cryptographically sealed
- Historical readings remain tamper-evident
- Clinicians can trust the provenance of their data
- AI identifies patterns quickly and clearly
Their prototype demonstrates how secure data foundations can enhance care quality and strengthen trust in digitally mediated healthcare environments.
Looking Ahead
Challenge X provided an ideal environment for students to explore how verifiable data systems can reshape industries beyond theory, through concrete prototypes and polished interfaces. Walacor will continue engaging with both teams as they refine their work, with the goal of helping them bring their solutions closer to production readiness.
Additional support opportunities and rewards will be offered to team members who choose to advance their applications beyond the scope of the competition.
